Green Universities Rankings as a Criterion for Resource Allocation

In the “Introduction to the Integrative-Comparative Model of Green University Ranking and Evaluation” workshop, the advisor to the deputy minister of Science Research and Technology and the head of the office of civil projects oversight, described universities’ rankings as one of the factors considered in resource allocation.

The workshop which was organized to train delegates from universities and research centers as evaluators, featured Dr Siamak Khademi who explained that evaluators will collect data, reports and documentation on environmental aspects of operations, in addition to green research and education. He further emphasized the sustainability criteria as principle measure of evaluation for universities.

Citing the separate expenditure category for green initiatives in the 1396 budget as well as the proposed budget for 1397, Dr Khademi explained how universities are ranked on the basis of their executive efforts towards green development and how such efforts will influence their budget.

This workshop was held in Shiraz in a collaboration between the office of civil projects oversight and the University of Shiraz.
A report on the “Green Balance Model” was also presented on the sidelines of the conference.
